Haiku 152 Patience Paid Off

Patience paid off
caught someone courting
now I'm in love.

This was such an exciting moment for me. I sit and watch the birds out my window almost every morning as I eat breakfast and write in my journal. The female came and sat in the tree right in front of me so I picked up my camera and started shooting and as I did the male came up to offer her a sunflower seed-something I've never witnessed before. My patience paid off because the theme for the Dogwood Challenge for the week of Valentine's Day was love. I didn't try to force anything and was just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. This was it!

Haiku 150 & 151 Finches

Two for one picture today. Now I need to work on getting a better picture of these little guys.

Finches looking brighter
despite a dreary morning
feeling more springlike.

Finches hang on tight
as the wind whips the lilac
patiently waiting for seeds.

Haiku 149 First Look Out the Window

(Sorry no picture yet-I enjoyed the view and tried a phone pic-but no good.)

First look out the window
fast action-up, down, in, out
seven jays feasting!

Haiku 146 Moan, Groan, Creak...Repeat

Moan, groan, creak...repeat
trees were talking to each other-
sometimes even singing!

I got out snowshoeing on this lovely winter afternoon.

Haiku 145 Under the Snow

Under the snow
Spring colors are waiting
first up purple and green.

When I woke up this morning this haiku was forming and I knew what picture I wanted. At that point the yard was undisturbed with happy dog prints. While my husband shoveled this morning Lizzi escaped the back yard and she had a blast jumping through the deep snow.
